Shakira has been nominated for seven gongs at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Shakira has her Hips Don't Lie track up in several top categories, including Video of the Year and Best Female Video.

The impressive line-up of live performances due at the glitzy awards bash features Beyonce, The Killers and pop heartthrob Justin Timberlake, who will perform his new single SexyBack.

The 23rd MTV Video Music Awards will be held in New York on August 31.
