American Idol On The 15th April 2008.

The last seven American Idol season 7 finalists are singing song from Mariah Carey, and man, I think it is going to be hard for them.

First up is David Archuleta singing “When You Believe” . He is pretty good, doing a good job I must say… lets here what the judges say about it..

Randy Jackson said... “You can sing anything”

Paula Abdul said.. “It must feel great for Mariah to be able to hear your interpretation of the song, and I know she was beaming, because you made her proud.”

Simon Cowell said... “I thought it was very, very good.”

Next up is Carly Smithson singing “Without You”. She is doing a pretty good job, but I don’t know if she is getting the high notes..

Randy Jackson said.. “It was pretty good.”

Paula Abdul said... “I actually liked that you showed some vocal restraint.”

Simon Cowell said.. “I thought that it was an ok version.”

Third up is my favorite, the stunning, Syesha Mercado singing… “Vanishing” A song I have not heard of… so maybe that can be a good thing..

Randy Jackson said.. “You did a good job on it all things considered.”

Paula Abdul said.. “You’re smart because you picked a song that not many people know.”

Simon Cowell said.. “Technically, it was very, very good indeed. Having said that, I’m not sure at this stage in the competition that I would have chosen a song which not many people know about.”

True, Simon, but she did a good job and then no one can compare her to Mariah Carey !!

OK, Now we have Brooke White singing “Hero”. Mhh, I don’t know if I like it…

Randy Jackson said.. “The bridge kind of threw me a little bit.”

Paula Abdul said.. “Every ounce of you is totally authentic to who you are.”

Simon Cowell said.. “It was a bit like ordering a hamburger and only getting the bun. In other words, the vital ingredient, the bit in the middle was missing. In other words the meat was missing..”

Simon kills me, he has some brilliant phrases..

Now we have the country girl, Kristy Lee Cook, who can’t really sign anything other than country stuff and the fantastic version of Lee Greenwoods “God Bless The USA” Kristy Lee Cook sings “Forever.”

Randy Jackson said.. “You definitely started stepping up towards the end.”

Paula Abdul said.. “I’m like blown away.”

Kristy Lee Cook said to Simon that when she sang it to Mariah Carey it gave her chills..

Simon Cowell said.. “You didn’t give me chills. I think you managed with what you could.”

Now the American Idol rocker, David Cook singing “Always Be My Baby.” He is doing a good job, making it his own..

Randy Jackson said... “That was the most brilliant performance yet.”

Paula Abdul said... “That song could be in a movie soundtrack right now.”

Simon Cowell said... “It was original, it was daring, it stood out by a mile.”

Last but not least it is Jason Castro singing “I Don’t Wanna Cry”. No doubt I will cry, or maybe just turn of the sound...

Randy Jackson said... “I felt like I was at a weird beach luau.”

Paula Abdul said... “I would love to be at that luau listening all night long.”

Simon Cowell said.. “It was a cool version. I’ve got to tell you by the way, the guys completely won the night.”
