The Academy is made up of 1000 specially invited members from different sectors of the music industry. Major and independent record companies, retailers, music critics and student press, music TV and Radio producers and presenters, music publishers, artist managers, concert promoters and venues, NUS representatives and DJs.


Less than a quarter of the academy’s membership is drawn from the recording industry, and despite the popular misconception that “BRIT Bosses” dish out the awards, only 12% of the voting academy are drawn from major record companies.

Leona Lewis With 4 Brit Award Nominations.

Leona Lewis has been nominated for four Brit Awards this year in the category "Best British Album" and "Best British Single".


Leona Lewis, the X Factor winner is up for the "Best British Female" and will be up against Kate Nash, KT Tunstall, PJ Harvey and Bat For Lashes


Leona Lewis will also be up against "Mika" for "Best British Breakthrough".


Leona Lewis sold more than 370,000 copies of her album "Spirit", in the first week of it's release and it became the fastest selling British album of all time.


Kylie Minogue is hoping to win in the Best International Female and Best International Album categories.

Joss Stone - British People Hate Me.


Joss Stone has spent several years working in the US and has been pretty successful, but Joss Stone is very upset after being booed by fans and critics in her home country, Britain. Joss Stone was also mocked earlier this year at the Brit Awards for having an American accent. So what !! If you have been to America you will know that a lot of American cant understand a word British people say. So you have to change your accent a little so people understand you.


At the end of the day it will be Britain's loss, Joss Stone can make more money in the US.


Joss Stone said....

"I felt kind of sad about it actually. It's funny because the only country that hasn't liked my third album is my own. It's just like, well, thanks guys! It's like coming home and having them be like, 'Go away, we don't like you!'"

"It's the whole country and they're mad at me for being in the U.S. Maybe it's because I dye my hair, maybe it's because my accent is messed up. But I've got to let it go and get on with my music."
