Katharine McPhee has been sacked by her record label and is now unemployed. Katharine McPhee is not the only American Idol star who has been sacked by their record label, Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks have also been sacked by their record company.


RCA Records confirmed that they’ve not renewed "American Idol" star Katharine McPhee's contract. A close source say's....

"Winning American Idol is no longer a guarantee that you’re going to make it. Katharine McPhee was hot for a few months. But audiences are fickle."

It just show's you that being on American Idol does not get you a life time record contract. It might make you a few hundred thousand of even a million dollars, but not a life time money earner.

Katharine McPhee, the American Idol runner up has revealed that just before she appeared on the American Idol show, she enrolled at Los Angeles's Eating Disorder Center of California.


Katharine McPhee spent three months undergoing group and individual therapy for bulimia. Katharine McPhee had the therapy six days a week.

Every day Katharine McPhee says that some days she was being sick up to seven times a day and knew she had to get treatment or it could ruin her life and her ability to sing forever.

When I made it onto American Idol, I knew that food - my eating disorder - was the one thing really holding me back,"

she says.

"I was bingeing my whole life away for days at a time ... So when I got on the show, I said, 'You know what? I can do well in this competition. Let me give myself a chance and just get ahold of this thing....I knew I had put off going to a treatment center long enough - I'd been struggling with bulimia since I was 17."

Katharine McPhee has just signed a record deal with 19 Recordings Ltd, Simon Fullers company and RCA in conjunction with Clive Davis the chairman of BMG USA and RCA Records.


Katharine McPhee new single will be released on the 27th of June. Katharine McPhee was the runner up on the TV hit show American Idol.


The single will be a double A side, 'Over the Rainbow' and 'My Desting'.
