The winner for Best Supporting Actor goes to Heath Ledger for 'The Dark Knight'! Collecting the award on his behalf is his father, mother and sister.

First of all, I have to say this is ever so humbling. Just being amongst such wonderful people, such a wonderful industry. Firstly, I'd like to thank the Academy for recognizing our son's amazing work, Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan in particular, for allowing Heath the creative license to develop and explore this crazy Joker character. To Steve Alexander, Heath's mentor, special friend and agent for 10 years. We love you, Steve.

This award tonight would've humbly validated Heath's quiet determination to be truly accepted by you all here, his peers, within an industry he so loved. Thank you.

BAFTA Awards - 2009 Winners

With 'Slumdog Millionaire' and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' scooping the most nominations, it was always going to be an exciting battle to see who would take home the most BAFTA masks. Add into the mix a host of A-list actors who walked the red carpet either to present an award or hoping to receive one, it really was an exciting night.The late Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for his role in 'The Dark Knight'.

The BAFTAs are the British equivalent of the Oscar ceremony. This year the event takes place in London on the 8th February - two weeks before the Academy Awards.

After winning at the Golden Globes and SAG awards, British hopes rest firmly on Kate Winslet who is nominated for Best Actress, and Slumdog Millionaire which is nominated for Best Film.

Mary-Kate Olsen Wants Immunity From Prosecution

Mary Kate Olsen has been asked twice by U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officers for an interview and she has still not replied.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration who is investigating the source of Heath Ledger's drugs and medicines said....

"We have asked to interview her twice and it has not happened,"

Mary Kate Olsen was a good friend of Heath Ledger and she was the first person his masseuse called. His masseuse was the who found Australian Heath Ledger dead in his New York apartment in January from an accidental prescription drug overdose.

Investigators are in negotiations with Mary Kate Olsen's lawyers and the prosecutor's office to see if they can sort out a deal.

Mary Kate Olsen's lawyer, Michael Miller said....

"Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger's home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them,"

So the question is, what does she have to hide? she has something to hide is she is asking for immunity thats for sure.

Hilary Duff Goes To The Movies To See Dark Knight.

Hilary Duff went to the cinema to see the new hyped up Batman movie, "Dark Knight". The movie has got a massive PR job due to the film being the late Heath Ledgers last movie. I have to say Heath Ledger was amazing in it and it is worth going to see it.

Only one thing, go better dressed that Hilary Duff. As usual Hilary Duff has zero dress sence. She wore a black top with a black cardigan, very short white shorts and big black boots..

Heath Ledger Dies In Mary Kate Olsen's Home.


Heath Ledger was found dead by his house keeper at Mary Kate Olsen's, fourth-floor apartment at 421 Broome Street in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City in New York. It is said that he died of a drug overdose, but the medical examiner will do an autopsy today to find the exact cause of Heath Ledger's death.

"He was found at 3:26 p.m. EST by a housekeeper and a massage therapist, who entered the bedroom to find him face down and unconscious at the foot of his bed with sleeping pills on a nearby night table. Police said that they also found prescription medication in the bathroom and that there were "no obvious signs" of suicide, nor did they suspect foul play"

A masseuse, who had an appointment with Heath Ledger was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of the bedroom Heath Ledger was in. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Heath Ledger naked and unconscious on a bed, with sleeping pills — both prescription medication and nonprescription — on a night table. They moved his body to the floor and attempted to revive him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.


Heath Ledger born, Heathcliff Andrew Ledger was only 28 years old when he died. Heath Ledger's one love, Michelle Williams whom he worked with on his hit film "Brokeback Mountain" have a daughter together Matilda Rose, who was born on October 28, 2005. Heath and Michelle broke up in Agust 2007 and it was reported that Heath Ledger did not get over it.


Heath Ledger's father said in a statement.....

"We, confirm the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda, who was found in a peaceful sleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30pm. We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their kind wishes at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life, but few had the pleasure to truly know him. He was a down-to-earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and unselfish individual who was an extreme inspiration to many. Please now respect our family's need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately"

Australian star Nicole Kidman said that Heath Ledger's death was a "tragedy" and said her heart went out to his family.



John Travolta described Heath Ledger as

"one of my favorite actors."

"His abilities are rare... it's a tremendous loss,"
